Another fixture and another win for the RHUL Lady Bears. This time UCL welcomed the ladies to their home court in Euston and just as in the first game against each other, the Bears won, this time by 58-44.
“Probably one of our best games so far,” said coach Tasha after the game with special emphasis on the team spirit shown which consequently lead to an efficient play with many good combinations and tight cooperation between players.
Defensively, a strong help defense forced UCL to rely on outside shooters, a strategy which proved mostly unsuccessful. Although attempting to drive to the basket and so score easy points, most often, there was a Bears player ready to prevent this, which lay the foundation for the win.
In offense, Kristine Flyvholm had no problem keeping at her usual brilliant three-point shooting and Luisa Miranda made sure to confuse and undermine the UCL defense by excellent screening. Anna Dyachenko stood strong defensively under the basket, making it more than problematic for UCL to score.
Towards the end, with two players fouled out, the Bears showed signs of tired legs and UCL could get a few easy points in but the win was never really threatened.
Vicky Bright was voted Man of the Match for her great contribution of steering the play as point guard.
Scorers: Kristine Flyvholm (24), Alice Couten (14), Johanna Svensson (6), Vicky Bright (5), Anna Dyachenko (4), Marina Hanna (3), Shanty Cheung (2).
