‘Founder’s library isn’t going anywhere’

This afternoon Nayab Cheema, President of Royal Holloway’s Students’ Union, released a statement quashing rumours that Founders’ Library is to cease functioning as a student workspace once the construction of the new library centre is complete.

In a blog post on the SU website she stated that ‘we would like to reassure you by saying that Founder’s library isn’t going anywhere.’ The beginning of this week saw a misinformed online petition circulating on social media that suggested that the College planned to transform Founder’s library into a staff eating space once the new library and student services centre is constructed, prompting uproar from current students and alumni alike.

However, in her statement Nayab reassured students that “the new library has been designed to complement Founder’s building with the idea that the two buildings will go hand-in-hand. Therefore, it is extremely important that Founder’s library continues to operate when the new library comes into being”
