Get the plump 90s pout: Kylie Jenner Style…

So unless you’ve been living under a rock recently and/or do not have an Instagram account, (Seriously? Get on that.) then you should be only too painfully aware of the mahoossive trend that is Kylie Jenner’s grungy 90s pout. Consisting mainly of those voluptuous, matte, mauve lips, I’d say that according to the incessant influx of Kylie J selfies on my Insta feed…she’s enjoying bringing back that 90s lip look! And apparently so are we! Love or hate Kylie, it has to be said that the colours she uses on her lips are stunning.

But what is she applying onto those babies? And how can we get the same look? Not to worry ladies – and perhaps gentlemen? – I’ve done a little research into what lip products you can pick up to create this coveted look!
From the very nude to the slightly more forgiving pinky-brown hues (My personal favourites) I’ve selected a few shades you might want to try out in order to experiment with this super cool 90s trend!

We’ll begin with some of the products actually claimed to have been used by Miss Jenner and although not as cheap as some of the ones I’ll mention further on, these aren’t ridiculously priced – considering some other beauty brands – and are great quality with lasting finishes. So here I introduce a few lip products from M.A.C…

1. M.A.C Lip Liner in Soar – £12.50.
This is a pinky brown shade which is absolutely gorgeous however the colour pay off can differ on different skin tones and look more mauve. This is probably my personal favourite shade of the liners I will mention and trust me I will be getting my hands on it as soon as I step foot inside a M.A.C store.

2. M.A.C Lip Liner in Whirl – £12.50
A more browny-beige shade is Whirl which is a lot less pinky toned than Soar but still a perfect beige nude just like Kylie likes to wear!

3. M.A.C Lipstick in Velvet Teddy (Matte finish) – £15.50
Conveniently enough, if you’re looking for both a lip liner (for that all-important over-drawing process) and a lipstick then Velvet Teddy goes together perfectly with the previously mentioned Whirl liner! Again just a neutral, beige nude that has proven to be a number one hit in M.A.C stores around the world! And all because of one 17 year old?! The fact it’s matte is a bonus as it really suits that 90s theme and means it’ll be super long-lasting.

4. M.A.C Lipstick in Twig (Satin finish) – £15.50
Described as a ‘soft muted brownish pink’ this lipstick is again one of my favourites of the Kylie-esque lip products, and I will definitely be hunting this baby down too. Unlike Velvet Teddy this isn’t a matte finish but it isn’t glossy or sheeny at all either and I think will suit a huge variety of skin tones.

Now for the more student-budget friendly high street options that are also slightly easier to track down and can look just as good as those by M.A.C!

5. Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection Lipstick in shade 08 – £5.49
I actually just purchased this particular lipstick and have been impressed! For just a fraction of the price though perhaps a little less durable this pinky brown shade is super easy to apply and comfortable to wear!

6. Soap&Glory Matte Lipstick in Supernude – £9.00
Exactly what it says on the metaphorical tin! This is perhaps the most pale nude of all the lip products I’m mentioning for those of you brave enough to go that pale! This lipstick even claims to make lips look plumper which is definitely a plus…we are talking PLUMP 90s lips right?

7. Max Factor Lip Liner in Mauve Moment – £4.99
At just under a fiver this liner is pretty awesome and I’ve actually recently added this to my – slowly evolving – collection too. This one is another darker pinky-brown which is fairly similar to Soar by M.A.C but perhaps a tad darker. I noticed that this stuff lasted pretty darn well and the colour is also really lovely. Even wearing this alone would create a satisfying Kylie look.

8. Rimmel London Lip Liner in Spice – £2.99
This little number can be paired up with the Rimmel lipstick in 08 and is a stunning pink with – as the name suggests – a little spicy hue to it. It can be worn and can be built up to create a deeper more sophisticated shade. At such an affordable price, you can’t really go wrong!

So guys, those are a few picks that I think cover all skin tones on the the spectrum and I’m sure all you gals can find a shade you like and will maybe attempt to recreate the 90s lip look! Having said that, take it easy on the liner girls, let’s not OVER-over-draw. 😉
