#BearsDay- Disappointment for Women’s 1st Fencing

After narrowly missing promotion to the Premier League last year, the start of the new season saw the Women's 1st Fencing team put our brand new pistes into action. This week's opponents were new to our league; having risen through the ranks of South Eastern 2A, the Kings College London team earned promotion, and it showed. Our first weapon of the match was foil, with ex-Captain and resident foilist, Lyndsay Galpin, new blood, Chloe Hooper, and current Captain Verity Ridgeon, who having switched to Sabre hasn't picked up a foil in 11 years. The KCL girls started strong with a 15-1 lead, but after the third bout we started to warm up. An Introduction to Femsoc

Interested in feminism? Or simply finding out more about what exactly that means? The definition of feminism is ‘advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality’; we aim to work towards equality of the genders. As one of the first UK universities to accept women, Royal Holloway has a rich feminist history which we try to keep alive through our society. We meet weekly for friendly discussion with likeminded people, usually followed by a social. Czech out Lacrosse!

Another year had passed and yet again the Lacrosse club cap off a successful season with a long lasting tradition… TOUR! This year had been, no doubt, filled with memories on and off the pitch with all Men’s, Women’s and Mixed teams yet again showing their presence in BUCS. However there was only one thing on our minds… Prague was the destination. Jetting in late at night, the club were dozily introduced to our hub for the coming week. Situated deep in central Prague, many of us had instinctively grown attached to the local beer museum for purposes no other than to sample the nostalgic ‘Kingswood’ cider. The Computing Society focuses on making computing fun, interesting and engaging for all members. Our aims are to widen our member’s knowledge and skills base through regular talks and industry related events where we are able to meet like-minded people and build a solid networking base, which could further their career prospects. An Interview with… MTS & Women’s Rugby!

I'm sat in Founders south quad on a gorgeous summer day. Across from me are Lewis Mullins, Pippa Gentry and Matt Abrams from the Musical Theatre Society. Lewis is the President, Pippa, President-Elect, and Matt has been Musical Director of various productions including Little Shop of Horrors and Summer Cabaret last year. I feel awkward to have propositioned these people that I barely know to interview them about their past achievements of the year. And what achievements they are. Lewis dives straight in with the statistics I suspect he’s quoted many times before. Three productions, and the intensive weekend show with twenty musical numbers. The summer. A time of being exam free, where lying down all day in the sun and drinking a cider at 11am seems perfectly acceptable and where short-shorts make their repeated dreaded appearance. Either way, it is meant to be our time to relax. Well, that’s wrong… and I shall explain why.
