Balenciaga Exhibition

“the master of us all” - Christian Dior A brief history. Cristóbal Balenciaga has always been and continues to be a huge influence on twentieth-century fashion. What separates him from other designers is his willingness to go against the grain in a bid to revolutionise the traditional, feminine silhouette. Due to the Spanish Civil War, Cristóbal moved to Paris. He soon became inspired by French established designers, such as Gabrielle Chanel and Madeleine Vionnet and learnt the art of design by dismantling their garments to see the craftsmanship behind them and redirect this same skill towards his own work. Seeing icons such as Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington parked on the front row with eagle eyes (or sunglasses in Anna’s case), it makes you wonder, could just anyone be Anna? Maybe by following her regime you could become the Ice Queen herself… The iconic Editor in Chief of American Vogue starts her morning at a terrifying 5.45am where she finds herself arriving at New York’s Midtown Tennis Club for an h...

Impressed with Vogue Fest

If ever there was an excuse to get all dressed up on the weekend and surround yourself with glamour and fashion fun, it’s for the Vogue Festival. This year’s Vogue Fest seemed to stop at no limits as the foyer activities alone was an immense fashion overload. The day featured a Bobbi Brown beauty station, an organic pharmacy giving feel-good-facials, a Topshop nail bar, trend talks with Vogue editors, the chance to have a Vogue cover shoot with Chanel accessories, book signings, Vogue speed styling and a Vogue shop which contained exclusive, limited edition merchandise. There was also a Harrods café and a Harrods green man greeting people, adding that extra classiness. With all of this in mind, the price of the ticket at £25 simply seemed too good to be true, and would have been a fashi...
