Royal Holloway confirmed three students were attacked at Egham train station on the 6th February, with a fourth victim having been assaulted.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called at about 9:00pm along with Surrey police and paramedics.
The victims included: two 20-year-old men, a third man aged 22, and an 18-year-old police have reported. The three men and teenager were taken to hospital with non life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
The victims were Royal Holloway students and members of Royal Holloway Men’s Rugby.
In total, four people were arrested, with three released on bail. 21 year old George Turner was charged with three counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.
While trains still ran at the Egham station, a cordon remained in place at the station on Saturday. The police have released an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with footage and information to come forward.
As of 2026, the crime rate in Egham is 10% lower than the South East and 24% lower than the England, Wales & Northern Ireland overall figure (statistics from crimerate.co.uk).
Runnymede police have warned of the spreading of false information, stating on a post on their facebook: “We are aware of false reports circulating online with regards to the incident, including posts using our image that suggest this information has come directly from Surrey Police.” They have urged people to always refer to verified police accounts and websites for following updates.
A spokesperson for Royal Holloway, University of London, said: “We are aware of an incident at Egham train station on Friday 6 February in which three of our students were injured. Police arrested a suspect shortly after the incident and confirmed there was no ongoing threat. There have since been two further arrests. Our teams supported the students involved and will continue to offer help.
